Ants, ants, everywhere

Did your mother ever tell you 'don't step in my dirt' when she was sweeping the floor? Here in Uganda our 'dirt' moves even as we're sweeping it. Yes, most evenings after the sun goes down, dozens of ants emerge from nowhere and scour our living room floor in search of food. Sometimes we just can't take stepping on them anymore, or they distract us from whatever we're doing, so we have to sweep them up. But this kind of dirt doesn't like to stay in a pile and promptly disperses. Just before writing this I swept the floor, but it's already crawling with little black ants again. At least they aren't the biting kind. Okay, you little guys, I'll spare you if you clean up all our crumbs!
